This page is where we’ll post all the stuff that should help photographers and models, whether new or experienced. It’s all based on our own experience and is what we’ve found to work. Often there’s no right or wrong way of doing things - this is just our way!
TFCD and TFP
If you’re considering modelling you’ll often come across two important terms, but they don’t really explain what is involved – so here goes!
TFCD – Time for CD.
This is where the photographer and mode both give up their time. In return for this the model receives a CD of images from the shoot.
It is important that both parties agree upfront what each will receive.
On some occasions the shoot may be for experience only. On some occasions the photographer may be giving images in return for the right to use images from the shoot in their own portfolio or to sell.
As long as each party understand what the other will get then a fair trade can take place.
For example, we often do a TFCD shoot for a new model. The model receives full size images for their portfolio and experience. We publish and sell the images in our stock portfolio to recoup our time and expenses.
We may also do a TFCD shoot with an experienced model to try new ideas such as lighting techniques or locations. This may result in further paid shoots.
TFP – Time for prints.
Really it’s the same as the above and was more popular before the digital age. The photographer and model need to agree on the number and size of prints being produced.
In both situations it is important that the photographer and model agree on all aspects such as delivery times.

Finding Models
We use several ways of finding models for our shoots.
We use a couple of web based model sites, we publish on our own website, we have a page on facebook, and we also ask people we meet.
As we’re more than likely shooting for stock we’re looking for a wide variety of people from pro models to people who have never modelled. From ages 18 to 80!
